A very enjoyable read that I had been meaning to get around to for a while and I'm so, so glad I did.
I loved everything about it from the atmosphere to the relationship between (abusive) mother and daughter. It was a hard read because of that, based on my own personal experiences. I only wish I had gotten around to reading it sooner than I did. I was also very pleased with the ending.
DNF, but 1 star for what I did actually finish (made it through chapter 19). the book itself is fine in the beginning, i suppose. but then it quickly got boring. I made it about halfway through before giving up for a while.
THEN i find out about all the tiktok girlies saying “book one isn't that great, but book two and on are phenomenal!”
I am not forcing myself to finish this book to read the rest. that's like being a victim in a hostage situation.
i finished this book in one sitting while i was sick a couple of years ago and i still remember it pretty fondly despite it feeling like a fever dream when i was done.
this book triggered my depression to the point where I had an entire mental breakdown my junior year of high school
this is actually a 3.5 star book for me. it wasn't bad. it was my first ali hazelwood book and it was fun, admittedly. that being said, i'd consider reading this book like eating candy. good in the moment, but probably not good for long term reading health.
