A strange yet compelling picaresque adventure story about two Wild West assassins. Very strange indeed. Also poignant, occasionally funny and frequently very violent. It's an existentialist western directed by David Lynch. Not what I was expecting at all but I loved it.

Wow. Really liked this. Love the studied, cynical misanthropy. It's like a cross between American Psycho and La Nausée. Very funny. Want to read more Houellebecq now.

I love Pride & Prejudice but I didn't like this at all. A weak, thin plot padded with excessive dull detail, plus poor characterisation and some very clunky writing. Made me cringe badly at times.

Finally got round to ticking this one off the list. And I think I understand both why some people love it and some hate it... An astonishing piece of writing but not without its flaws.
